My Year as an Intern

This year as an intern I've had many different experiences in my field site class room. I think one of my "Ups" would probably be that whenever I did my lesson over birds and what they eat, the weeks that followed it my students would call me over to their tables and show me a picture of a bird and they would tell me what they learned about that bird and what it eats. I felt so accomplished because I realized that they actually learned something. My "downs" from my field site would probably be whenever the students ask me a question and I didn't know the answer and I felt like I would let them down.
But I wouldn't change anything about my field site experience I had so much fun everyday that I would go.

Beyond the Blackboard

Stacey Bess’s biggest problems were that she didn’t have any help as in having any principals and any staff, so she had to be the principal and teacher. She also didn’t have any materials so she could teach with like books. So she had to use her own money to fix up the room and buy a few materials.
The two biggest obstacles that I think I would have is probably the discipline, because there are some students that might want to act up and not care about getting in trouble that would be if they were in high school. And if I had elementary maybe the principal might not like the way I teach things or other teachers.

The Advantages of Technology in the Classroom

·      Accessing Information
·      Editing of Written Works
·      Providing Supplementary Information
·      Communicating
·      Motivating Students

Communicating has helped me get through high school because if I wouldn’t talk to my teachers I would not know how to do better in school. I talk to my teacher either through email and that’s a great way to communicate whenever you know you teachers wont be there.

Other advantages of using technology in school and in class is that you have more resource besides your teacher because sometimes your teacher is helping out other students and you need to get your work done. Being able to have computers is a great resource.

Who is Stacey Bess?

Stacey Bess is an Elementary teacher and also a speaker. She had to become a teacher for a homeless students or students who people thought were unteachable. She wrote a book called "Nobody don't love Nobody" and a film was made from her experience called "Beyond the Blackboard."
At times she had some of her students staying at her house because they were afraid. She was a teacher who taught the "Unteachable."

Bullying in School

I think there is bullying in BISD it’s just that students don’t report it because they are scared. I myself have been a victim of bullying not a lot but I would always get made fun of because I was small, and up till this day I still get picked on because of my size. I think the way to handle bullying is my talking to your counselor first to see if any damage is done, the report it to your principal. Maybe to prevent bullying from happening the way to go is have a whole day of class and talk about the consequence of bullying.

Reflections on My Fall Semester Internship

I think this years fall semester has been the best one, because I got to be with my students since the beginning and I got to see how each learn. They have gotten to know me well enough and I have gotten to know them well enough. The thing I would have done diffrently would be on my lesson that I did because I could have done more activities with my students since I had a lot of time. The thing I've enjoyed the most has been working with most students individually. Getting to help each student with their work or reading to them really satisfied me. Helping the students out with they vocabulary, the fact that I know that, that day they learned something new from me made me glad.
The thing I would change would be to probably take more control of the class when my field site teacher is gone, and try to teach them more of what I know.

Reflections of a First Grade Intern

As the first day I walk in to my first grade classroom I really had no idea what to expect. Many things would go thru my mind like, what if my students don’t like me, what if I don’t know how to teach them well enough, or what if my teacher doesn’t like me and chooses to not have me in her class. But the moment I walked in my classroom I was received with a smile from every person in the room and I was greeted by my teacher. That really took a whole lot of weight off my back.
As time passed by I got the hang of everything, I also got the respect I wanted from my students as well as my teacher. I eventually got the trust of my teacher and she would allow me to teach a few students at a time or one. And from this experience I figured out that definitely every student has their difficulties and each one has their way of learning. When I would work with each students I would see that a had a group of students which I would have to explain things more then once and other students would get it right away.
I also had the group of students at once that each had their own learning style so I would have to think of many ways to explain how to do the work so everyone would understand. These are the kind of things that really stuck to my mind and made me realize that being a teacher isn’t a game every step you take in a challenge and you have to be willing to take it. This leads me to when I actually had to think like a teacher and be in the role of a teacher. My teacher would have something to do and she would leave me with the students for a while and I had to mange to help one student out while controlling the whole classroom so they would act out.
All that I go thru each day when I go to my field site helps me become a step closer to my dream of having my own classroom some day. Every challenge that is put in front of me I try to take it with a mature manner. Having the opportunity to see what a teacher is about is an amazing feeling you get at the end of the day, you go home with the satisfaction of knowing you helped someone do better.
